The recognition of Kosovo is not and will not be discussed in the June 27 meeting in Washington because we won’t allow that, Serbia’s president Vucic has told in the central town of Cacak on Tuesday, N1 reports.

He added that the Americans had already said they wanted to talk about the economy and “we have talked about it before.”

Commenting on the speculations that Belgrade would sign the independence of Kosovo, after the US President Donald Trump special envoy for Belgrade – Pristina dialogue on the normalisation of relations Richard Grenell’s announced the meeting at the White House, Vucic said: “I’m ashamed to talk about that seriously. That speaks about those people, not about us. That won’t be on the list; we won’t allow that.”

He called on everyone who said Serbia would recognise Kosovo’s independence to stop “with such lies,” adding Washington had announced the economy would be on the agenda “as it has always been before.”

Adding that the European Union envoy Miroslav Lajčák would come to Belgrade following the June 21 elections in Serbia, Vucic said he was due to Moscow the day after. “Serbia faces not an easy period.”

Two days later, Vucic said, “we have to agree who would be in the delegation for the meeting in Washington.”

“And several days later we have more important meetings which we still cannot talk about,” he added.

Vucic avoided answering a reporter’s question about whether that included the Kosovo media reports about Belgrade – Pristina delegations’ meeting with the French President Emmanuel Macron and the German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Paris.

Instead, he said, “it’s important that Serbia isn’t hurt because when elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers.”

“Neither America nor Germany will collapse because of Serbia, while Serbia can sink if it has any of the two as an enemy,” Vucic said.

“We tried to fight major powers before, and lost all factories in Cacak,” Vucic said during the start of the German Vorwerk company’s factoryin the town.
