Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said on Monday that Pristina will agree to a solution on vehicle license plates with Serbia only based on reciprocity.
Albanian language media in Pristina quoted him as saying that the principle of reciprocity will be the essence of every solution. He recalled that April 21 is the final deadline to reach an agreement on the issue.
The Serbian government Office for Kosovo said that the temporary agreement on license plates will remain in force after April 21 until a permanent solution is found.
Pristina raised tensions a few months ago by refusing entry to Kosovo for vehicles with Serbian license plates, forcing drivers to pay fees for temporary plates. A temporary agreement was reached with European Union mediation to cover Serbian state insignia on the license plates with white stickers before passing through border crossings.
